MR. JOHN WILLIAM GRIFFIN - Age 86, of LaFayette, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 with his family at his bedside. He was retired from Riegel Textile Corp. after twenty years, was a carpenter, and a member and Deacon of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. He was well known for the help he has done for others. His daughter, Treava Genell Watkins, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Mildred Lee Ware Griffin of LaFayette, Georgia; daughter, Gloria Yuvette (Chevette) Suttle of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Henry Griffin of LaFayette; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, James (Letha) Ware of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Wilson Jackson of LaFayette; sisters-in-law, Lillie Griffin,  Nella Bell, Sally Ware of LaFayette, Georgia, Betty Middlebrooks of Chattanooga, and Linda Lacks of New York; special cousin, Louise Favors of Summerville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Prospect Baptist Church, 194 Prospect Church Rd., LaFayette, Georgia, with Elder G. M. Spotts, Pastor J. Scott Copeland, and other ministers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Interment, LaFayette Memory Gardens.
