MR. LUCIOUS ALLEN TIBBS – Age 77, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Friday, December 13, 2024. He was born July 17, 1947 to his late parents, Lucious “Luke” Tibbs and Martha Nell Austin Tibbs. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Martha Joyce Shoemaker; brother, James Tibbs; granddaughter, Elasha “Lacey” Simpson Starling. He was a graduate of Emory Street School. He was previously employed by Dalton Battery and most recently employed by the City of Dalton. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years. Cordelia Priscilla Witherow Tibbs; daughter, Dedira (Johnnie Thomas) White; son, Steven (Teresa) Tibbs all of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Lucius “David” White, Christopher (Talia Barnett) White, Austin (Ashlyn) Tibbs, Landyn Tibbs, Taylor Dunn, and Nachelle (Tylor) Breedson; great grandchildren, Diemond Simpson, Domonique (Sanaa) Simpson, Kyler Partlow, Hagan White, Aeryian Starling, Presleigh White, Kamryn Starling, Kobe White, Kiryn White, Ava Pina, Kayce Tibbs, Sky, Braxton, Izzy Breedson, and Cooper Burnette; great great granddaughter, Rai’Dyn Simpson; sister, Shelia (Vance) Young; aunts, Gussie Johnson, Margaret (Tim) Jackson, Ethel Austin, and Dora Austin; uncle, Terry (Mamie) Austin; sisters-in-law,Wanda (Ronald) Pender, Janice (David) Watson, Gail (Cecil) Jackson, and Peggy Mitchell; special brothers, Willie C. Thomas and Jimmy Willis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Chapel of Willis Funeral Home with Pastor David Thomas, Eulogist. His remains will lie in state Friday, December 20, 2024 after 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Interment; Hopewell Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
