MRS. MARY DELOIS “GOLDIE” BROOME - Age 77, of Dalton, GA passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026. She was born July 9, 1948 to late parents, James, Sr. and Viola Cook Besley in Jackson, GA. Mary attended Henderson High School, Jackson, GA and later moved with her family to Dalton, GA. Mary was employed by ConAgra, NPC South, Alladin, and lastly worked in the Sampling Department for Shaw Industries until her retirement. She was last attending Rock Bridge Community Church with her family. She enjoyed being outside to garden and working on her puzzles to keep her mind stimulated.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Jimmy Broome; son, Bernard Broome; parents, James, Sr. and Viola Cook Besley; siblings, William Besley, James Besley, Jr., Arthur Lewis Besley, and Fannie Branham.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving son, Garry (Dareth) Broome of Dalton, GA; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Broome of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Haley (Michael) Oliver, Olivia (David) Scoggins, Amany (Armando) Rodriguez, Sidney (Sam) Fraire, Hannah (Jordan) Witherow, Zach (Sarah) Broome, Justin (Raven) Brown; 12 great grandchildren with an additional two coming soon; sisters, Rachel Besley and Civey Besley of Jackson, GA; brothers, Clayton Besley of Monticello, GA and Horace Lee Besley of Chattanooga, TN; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Willis Funeral Home with Elder Wade Broome, Eulogist. The family will receive extended family and friends on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Willis Funeral Home. Interment; West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, GA.
