MR. OSWALD SHAUN “PAPA DOC” EDMONDS, SR. - Age 66, of Cartersville, GA passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025. He was born April 4, 1959 in Eastover, South Carolina to his late parents, Samuel Edmonds, Sr. and Vivian (Jones) Edmonds. Oswald attended Bethune-Cookman University and afterwards proudly served in the United States Army. Once returning home, he married the love of his life, the late Jennifer Yvette Curtis. From this union, five children were born.
Oswald and Jennifer subcontracted as auto detailers in Bartow County and surrounding areas. He was of the Christian faith, and through the years, he would regularly be known for playing drums at various churches. Affectionately known as “Papa Doc”, Oswald was known to be a counselor, advisor, and inspiration to his family and friends.
Oswald was preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer Yvette Curtis; children, Charmion Curtis and Mario Curtis; parents, Samuel Edmonds, Sr. and Vivian (Jones Edmonds); brothers, Vienna Edmonds, Robert Muhammad, Samuel Edmonds, Jr., and William Muhammad.
Oswald leaves to cherish his memories are his sons, Oswald Shaun Edmonds, Jr., Christopher (Regina) Edmonds, Raymond Edmonds, Warren Andre Edmonds; six grandchildren, Jayden Curtis, Kimberly Robbins, Isaiah Lewis, Hailey Edmonds, Emily Edmonds, and Rio Curtis; siblings, Patricia Jones (Steve) Meyer, Sheila R. E. (Calvin) Williams, Andrea S. Edmonds, Audrey S. Edmonds, Edna B. Edmonds, Sallie E. Balancier, and Ralph (Sylvia) Funderburk; aunts, Betty L. Perkins and Anna Mae Watson; sister-in-law, Betty Muhammad, brother-in-law, Woodrow (Sharon) Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.egoing Celebration will be Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Willis Funeral Home, 2011 Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd, Dalton, GA 30721 with Rev. Dr. Angeleen E. Walker, Eulogist. His remains will lie in state on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Interment at Providence Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, GA.
