MR. RAY ALLEN BURSE, - AGE 81, - Of LaFayette, Georgia passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Ray was born on November 10, 1943 to his late parents, Deacon Jess Burse and Maggie Sue Akins Burse. He was preceded by his three brothers, George Burse, Clyde Burse, and James “Jay” Burse, four sisters, Sarah Cannon, Kathleen Taylor, Ida Belle Little, Barbara Jean Burse, and one grandson, Debony Maffett, II. He was retired from Shaw Industries as a truck driver. He was a member of True Gospel Pentecostal Church and during his youth he was a member of Prospect Baptist Church. He attended Hill High School.
Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of sixty-two years, Imogene Griffin Burse; three beautiful children, Avis (Carlos) Jones, Cedric (Lola) Burse, and Veronica Burse; four grandchildren, Tory Burse, Mallori Upshaw, Monet Moutinho, Kiara Maffett; seven great grandchildren, Natoria Burse, Michael Combs, Oliver Moutinho, Khi’mellow Burse, Ellis Upshaw, Sawyer Upshaw, Maya Burse, and one great great grandchild, Sage Burse; one sister, Janice Tolliver; sisters-in-law, brother-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 1:00 P. M. at True Gospel Pentecostal Church, 109 Henderson Street, Dalton, Georgia 30721 with Pastor Kenneth Cooper as Eulogist and Bishop Reuben Graham as Officiant. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home after 12:00 noon Thursday until the funeral hour. Interment, West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
