MRS. SHIRLEY OPHELIA WOFFORD JONES - Age 79, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025. She was born September 4, 1945. Shirley was formerly employed as a LPN and later retired as a Social Worker. Shirley was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Dalton, GA where she served as a Choir member and on the Usher Board. She most recently attended Moving Forward Ministries, Griffin, GA where she served on the Mother’s Board until her health declined. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Joseph Alexander Jones, Sr; sons, Charles Lamar Jones and Joseph Alexander “June Bug” Jones, Jr.
Those left to cherish Shirley’s memories are her devoted daughter, Neysa (Carlton) Mayfield; four grandchildren, Joshua (Chelsey) Jones, Whitley (Trae) Washington, Chaz Alexander Mayfield, and Sasha Helena Mayfield; 3 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Vollie Macon, Sr. of Chicago, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Homegoing Celebration will be Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor David Thomas, Eulogist and Rev. Dr. Jerry D. Jones, Presider. Her remains will lie in state on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Interment, West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, GA.
