Mr. Cecil Ashford, Jr. was the youngest son of the late Cesar Ashford and Ruby Estes, was born in Attala County, Mississippi on May 26, 1954. He attended schools in the Attala County School District and went to Tipton Street High School. Cecil's determination led him to earn his GED and pursue careers as both a skilled Class A Welder and a Class A Mechanic at Kosciusko Skill Center.
In May 1972, Cecil married Jacqueline Olive Ashford, and from their union they had five sons and together they built a loving family. They eventually settled in Pascagoula, MS. Cecil dedicated many years to his work as a welder at Pascagoula Engals shipyard before returning to Kosciusko, MS, where he found fulfillment working for Hill Brother's Logging until his passing.
Beyond his professional achievements, Cecil had a passion for working on cars and cherished spending time with family and friends. His sociable nature, quick wit, and infectious laughter made hm a beloved figure in his family and his friend's circle. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Cecil Junior Ashford departed this life on Monday, January 13, 2025, Kosciusko, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cesar Ashford and Ruby Estes, his son Westley Ashford; grandsons Cecil De'Sergio Ashford and Devontae Ashford; sisters Mary Lee Ashford, Daisey Ashford, Minnie Alice Ashford, ad brother Hubert Lee Ashford.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of surviving sons: Cecil Derwood Ashford of Minneapolis, MN, Reuben Ordel Ashford of Hennepin, MN, Robert Lindsey Ashford of Flint, MI, Micah D. Ashford of Pipestone, MN; daughters: Kimberly (Frank) McCune of Middle, TN; Keisha Bowens of Canton, MS; sisters: Bobbie M. Harmon and Alberta Harris; twenty-three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
