Celia Ann (McClellan) Anthony was born July 14, 1937, in Holmes County, MS to the late Mrs. Lillie Mae (Denton) McClellan and Mr. Ed McClellan. The favor and blessing of God were upon her for 88 years. She blessed many and many were a blessing to her. Celia Ann received her education at West Public Schools.
Celia Ann found hope and trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. She surrendered her life to Christ and Became a member of Saint Joseph COGIC; under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Forrest; where she was a faithful member until her health begins to fail. She continued to live her life as dedicated servant for the Lord until he beckoned her earthly body to its heavenly home.
Celia Ann worked for many years as a domestic homemaker to raise and nurture her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in the adoration of the Lord. Celia Ann was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Dennis Anthony, to whom she served as a faithful and devoted wife, until death did them apart on February 24, 1991.
On November 28, 2025, Celia Ann Anthony departed this earthly life at Lexington Manor Senior Care in Lexington, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Lillie Mae McClellan, one daughter, Shirley Ann Winters; seven sisters, Ethel Mae Smith, Mary Rae Horton, Leola Kirkwood, Rosia Collins, Viola Robinson, Betty Ruth Green, Vertille Greenwood, and one brother; Bill McClellan.
She leaves to cherish her most precious memories of five children: Avery Newman, Bernard (Geraldine) Newman, Walter (Carla) Newman, Sharon Newman, all of West, MS. and Darnell (Willie) Palmer of Lexington, MS. She leaves to cherish her fondest memories of one sister: Dorothy McClellan of Freeport, IL. and one brother, George Lee McClellan of West, MS. She also leaves to cherish her precious memories of 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
