Curtis “Duco” Redd Jr., of Rockford departed this earthly life June 5, 2026. He was born February 29, 1948, in Durant, MS the son of Curtis Sr. and Ella Wees Redd.
Curtis lived in Rockford since 1966 coming from Durant, MS. He married the former Dorothy Jordan, October 3, 1969, in Rockford, IL. Curtis was employed as a material handler at Greenlee Brothers, 16 years before retiring. He was a member of Georgeville United Methodist Church.
Curtis was a member of Ebony Dream Makers, National African American RV'ers Association, Inc. and the Rockford chapter of the NAACP. He attended schools in Durant, Mississippi. Curtis loved to grill, often called the “Grill Master;" always making his own barbeque sauce. He enjoyed watching sports and was a avid Bears fan. He truly loved his family and was their biggest fan and supporter. He always showed up.
Curtis leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Redd; son, Lysander “Puffy” (Wanda) Yates; two daughters, Carla (Pastor Ronald) Redd-Miller and Kisha (Corey) Turner; four grandchildren, Keosha Yates, Faith (Carl) Stanford, LaShayla Yates and Ronald Miller II; four great grandchildren; sister, Lindora Redd; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend who he loved like a son, Eddie Adams.
He was predeceased by his parents, Curtis Sr. and Ella Wees Redd and sister, Annie Lee Redd.
