Mr. David (Boy) Boatman was born to the proud parents of the late Henry Boatman and Louise Riley-Boatman on January 17, 1927, in Leake County.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Delydia Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He received his education in the Leake County Public School System. He worked as a custodian for 30+ years at Kosciusko Lower Elementary School.
He was united in holy matrimony to Mattie Lee Boatman on July 12, 1947, for 75 years. To this union six children were born: Lillie, Julia, Henry Chester, Ruthie, Mattie K. and Jeanette.
He loved taking care of his yard, going fishing and hunting. He will be missed for his jokes and his great sense of humor.
His parents, Henry and Louise Boatman; grandson, Dewon Clark; Sisters, Annie D. Fletcher, Blanch Canada and Frances Bentley; brothers, Horace and Joe L. Boatman and son-in-laws, Harold Towner and Henry Clark, Sr. all preceded him in death.
Mr. David Boatman silently fell asleep in the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Baptist Medical Center-Attala in Kosciusko. He will be deeply and greatly missed by his family and dear friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories- his loving and devoted wife Mattie Lee Boatman. He leaves six children: Five daughters, Lillie (Robert) Brown, Julia Clark, Ruthie Towner, Mattie Smith, and Jeanette Stewart all of Kosciusko, MS and one son, Henry Chester (Diane) Boatman. He leaves twelve grandchildren: Antwon Johnson, Antonio (Pam) Johnson, Gary (Danielle) Brown, Kimberly (Curtis) Ferguson, Henry Jr., (Amanda) Clark, Anita (Corvan) Greer, Marlonda Clark, Ryan (Quintessa) Stewart, Kenneth Towner, Marie (Myron) Cross, Jasmine Boatman, and Richard Riley. He leaves to thirty-three great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Morris (Francis) Griffin, one sister-in-law, Minnie P. Cole and two brothers-in-law, Chester Lee Cole and John Henry Cole of Kosciusko, MS. Also, he leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
