Obituary For Doris J. Ellis
Doris Jean Ellis was born on March 31, 1959, in Attala County, MS. She was the second oldest of RV Alston and Ruthie Luckett.
Doris attended McAdams High School where she was a part of the band and excelled in her academics in 1977. She was a nurse for 38 years; she received her Nursing Degree from Mississippi College School of Nursing with honors. She enjoyed helping others, cooking and being with family. She loved being outside planting and tending to her yard. She also loved nursing and caring for others. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and co-workers but never forgotten. She will forever live on in our hearts.
She departed this life on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at her home in Jackson, MS. She was proceeded in death by her Mother, Ruthie Luckett; Sister, Cynthia Alston, and Aunt, Nan Burke.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three brothers, James Ellis, Clifford Alston and Joie Alston; three sisters: Rosie Burke, Lisa Riley, and Marrie Alston; Nieces: Cassandra Burke, Felicia Griffin, Rosilyn Burke and Sarah Burke; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
PLACE OF SERVICE: Winters Funeral Home Chapel, Kosciusko, MS
DATE OF SERVICE: Monday 09/22/2025 at 1:00 p.m.
INTERMENT: Mallett Cemetery, Kosciusko, MS
VIEWING: Saturday, 09/20/2025 at 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Doris, my cousin will be surely miss by all who knew her, such a warm and up beat person. A few days before she passed we had great conversation,even then she had joy in her voice, we will talk again when we meet our Savior.RIP my dear cousin.
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not heal; weeping may endure for the night; but joy cometh in the morning. Even on an occasion such as this, we can find joy in knowing God is still in control. Our family chain has been broken and nothing seems the same. But as God calls us one by one; the chain will link again in Heaven. May God continue to keep and bless Doris family and love ones.

Doris worked with me on the 2nd floor at the Health Department. She was sweet and very friendly to talk with. To her family - you are in my prayers.

Doris was my coworker at the Hinds County Health Dept and I always enjoyed good conversations with her. Prayers for her family and friends who knew her best. May she Rest In Peace in the arms of her loving Savior.🙏
