Today, we celebrate the life of Eloise Riley Williams. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend. She departed this earthly life on July 1, 2025, and joined her parents, David “Bilbo” and LaVelle Evans Riley. One sister, Myrtis Woodard, and one brother, Earnest G. Riley, also preceded her in death.
On February 5, 1953, Mr. David "Bilbo" and Mrs. Lavelle Evans Riley welcomed their youngest daughter, Eloise, into the world.
Elosie attended Long Creek Elementary and graduated from McAdams High School. She continued and completed her education at Mississippi Valley State University. Upon returning home, she accepted a job at the Attala County Library. During her 41 years at the library, she met countless friends and built meaningful relationships with each patron. She held various jobs titles, including Library Clerk, Assistant Librarian, and Librarian.
Eloise was a member of Cedar Grove M.B. Church in Sallis, Mississippi, where she served on several program committees. She taught the Primary Sunday School class, created church programs, and ensured the church was clean before Sunday morning service, whenever her health allowed.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Eloise leaves to treasure her memories, 3 children: Will (Sabrina) Riley, Ken Williams and LaWanda (Jamario) Winters. She also leaves behind two brothers: Leroy (Cleo) Riley, Will Jr. (Barbara) Riley and one sister, Dorothy (Sam) Lewis. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Eloise's passing. I wish i had known in time to be at her funeral. We met her at the Library many years ago and we would always discuss what our kids and grands were up too. She was a precious lady . My condolences and prayers to her family.
Perhaps you sent a lovely card or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a funeral spray, if so, we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say, Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so very much, whatever the part.
We, the Family of Eloise Williams, are forever grateful for the love and support shown to us during this difficult time. We find comfort in the outpouring care and compassion we have received. ~The Family~
The family has my deepest condolences & sympathy on your loss. Eloise & I were classmate at Long Creek & McAdams. We took different path after graduating from HS. She was a very friendly & kind person.
So sorry for your loss. Eloise and I talked on many many occasions when I went to the library.
