Obituary For Emma K. Lee

Mrs. Emma Kathrine Lee Hughes was born on October the 20, 1939, in Attala County, Mississippi, to the late Lem Hughesand Emma Hughes.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; one son, Benneth Ray Lee; two sisters, Lillie Mae (Tiny) Hughes and Eva Charlotte (Sally) Lee; and eight brothers, Jack Allen Hughes, Leon (Tommie) Hughes, Earl (Squirrelly) Hughes, Howard (Brad) Hughes, Robert Earl Hughes, Robert Ray Hughes, Johnny William Hughes, and M.D. Hughes.

By her family and friends, she was affectionately known as “Emma Jane."

At an early age, Emma joined Pleasant Hill M.B. Church. She attended and graduated from Tipton Street High School.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Hiley Lee, and to this union three children were born.

Mrs. Emma was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She never met a stranger and was known for speaking her mind and being outspoken. She was called to her eternal home on June 5, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Emma's memories will be cherished by her loving family, including: One son, Jerry (Amy) Lee of Kosciusko, MS; One daughter, Annette (Bobby) Kern of Kosciusko, MS; two brothers, Lem Hughes of Kosciusko, MS, Allen (Diana) Hughes of Meridian, MS; Sisters-in-law, Lillian Hughes, Lola Dawson, and all of Kosciusko MS; Lisa Lee, of Gulfport, MS, brother-in-law, Percy Lee of Gulfport, MS, Seven grandchildren; Eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and a bonus son, Jerry Turner. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
