Mrs. Freddie Mae Fifer Burnett was born November 7, 1926, in Leake County, Mississippi to Grover Cleveland and Annie Alberta Ford Fifer who preceded her in death.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age joined Damascus Missionary Baptist Church and continued to serve faithfully until God gave her wings and called her home on Friday, October 11, 2019.
Mrs. Burnett attended the Baughness Elementary School and graduated from Attala County Training School in 1947. She went to summer school and began her teaching career in the fall of 1947 at McVille Elementary School, under the leadership of her mother.
She continued her education by attending summer school, night classes and Saturday classes and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tougaloo College in 1962. She did further studies at MSU, USM and Jackson State University.
She was married on December 25, 1959 to Rev. Carlos Burnett, Jr., to this union no children were born.
Mrs. Burnett taught school for 41 years in Leake and Attala Counties and spent countless hours preparing for the children she worked with.
As an active church member, she served as intermediate Sunday School Teacher for fifty-one years; Sunday School Secretary for several years; Secretary of the Mount Hope Junior Mission and Sunday School Convention.
Mrs. Freddie Burnett a 92 year old retired teacher passed away Friday 10/11/19 in Thomastown, MS of Leake County.
