James Crowder, Jr.

Passed 12/20/2021

Obituary For James Crowder, Jr.

Mr. James Matthew Crowder, Jr. transitioned from his earthly life to eternal life on Monday, December 20, 2021.

James was born January 9, 1947 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to James M. Crowder, Sr. and Allie Mae Adams.

James accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and became a member of Buffalo Community Methodist Church. He relocated to Romulus, Michigan in 1973. He became a member of Messiah Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Leroy Morgan. James' love of the Lord was exemplified as he faithfully served as a Deacon, worked with the Sunday School and a member of the choir.

James retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2006 after 30 years of service. Bowling was his passion. He enjoyed traveling, near and far, competing in tournaments with his bowling buddies who he considered family. They affectionately refer to him as “Pockets”. James has won countless awards and trophies.

James was one of the most caring and “giving” individuals that you will every encounter. He would literally give you the shirt off his back.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: wife, Brenda Crowder, a brother, Earl (Diane) Crowder of Flint Township. MI; 4 sisters, Vernita Gilkey of Ann Arbor, MI, Linda (Jermaine) Truss of Carthage, MS, Theresa and Sheila Hannah of Kosciusko, MS; 2 step-daughters, Sherita Dean of Warren, MI and Lateshia Dean of Southfield, MI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; including special and devoted nephew Melvin (Pander) Kimbrough and niece Mary Gilkey, both of Ann Arbor, MI, and his bowling “crew” including: Ann Carter, James Horn, Sandy Rich, Beverly Townsend, William Whitherspoon and Emerson Woods.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James Matthew Crowder, Sr. and Allie Mae Adams; brothers, J. W. Adams and Jamie Lee Hannah; aunt, Arie Adams; cousins, Ruthie B. Towers and Johnny Riley.
