Jeanette Groves Dawson was born in Goodman, Mississippi, on August 8, 1967, to Van Ethel Groves and Albert Lee Simmons. She was reared in a loving household by her mother, the late Steve Williams, Jr., and three younger siblings.
At an early age, Jeanette joined Walden Chapel United Methodist Church. She remained a life-long member. Jeanette began her education in the Holmes County School District and later completed her GED. She started her employment at Durant Electric and ended her career at Holmes Community College, where she remained a faithful and dedicated employee until her health failed. Jeanette met and married the love of her life, Bryan (whom she affectionally called “Chub”), and one son was born to this union.
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Jeanette departed her earthly home to join her “Chub”. Left with cherished memories: her loving and devoted son, Dedrick (Shenetra) Dawson; mother, Van Ethel Groves; grandson, Jonathan Bines; sisters: Florence (Robert)Holliday of Augusta, GA and Leonora Davis of Kosciusko, MS; brother, Steven T. Groves of Goodman, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
