"A Time To Be Born"
On January 19, 1967, God Blessed David and Alzena Whitcomb with a baby boy in Attala County, MS, whom they lovingly named Jerry Whitcomb. From the beginning, Jerry was surrounded by the warmth of a close-knit and caring family.
"A Time To Plant"
At a young age, Jerry confessed Christ at Christian Liberty Baptist Church in Kosciusko, MS. Jerry received his education in the Attala County School District, where he built lasting friendships and a strong foundation for life.
Jerry was also a hardworking man who believed in the value of honest labor. He worked in concrete construction with Rayford Construction for 29 years, where he was admired for his strong work ethic, reliability, and craftmanship. Through his work, Jerry built more than just foundations he built a legacy of dedication and perseverance that touched many lives.
“A Time To Love”
Jerry never met a stranger. His humor and easygoing spirit could turn any moment into laughter and joy. He loved being around family and friends, and his presence always brought warmth and light to those around him.
“A Time To Die”
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Jerry Peacefully transitioned from mortality to immortality, exchanging his earthly vessel for his eternal heavenly home. He embraced the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.” The Lord welcomed our beloved Jerry into eternal rest.
“A Time To Mourn”
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved mother Alzena Riley Whitcomb, son, Jeremy Bernard Whitcomb & sister-in-law, Barbara Whitcomb.
He leaves to celebrate his life and honor his memory, his children: Jerry M. (Demetria) Winters, Byram, MS, Marty R. Gaston and Jerremy Whitcomb (Kosciusko, MS); His father: David Whitcomb, Jr., Kosciusko, MS; His siblings: Melissa G. Whitcomb, Kosciusko, MS, Michael Whitcomb, Gulfport, MS and Jeffrey M. Whitcomb, Kosciusko, MS, His treasured grandchildren, Jerrainya Landingham, Jayla M. Winters, Marlee R. Gray, Marcie R. Ward, Marlani R. Zollicoffer and Margiela R. Zollicoffer; His great-grandson: Zaelyn Landingham; A special friend: Shalaine Primer; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunties, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever carry him in their hearts. Jerry's life was a testimony of faith, love, and endurance. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
