Jesse Lee Jenkins was born on March 21, 1952, in Jackson, Mississippi to the late James and Fannie Jenkins. He was seventy-two years young. Jesse was a graduate of the 1963 class of Temple High School of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Jesse learned the skilled craftmanship of carpentry and electrician work at a young age and worked in Kosciusko, MS initially as a commercial and residential heating and cooling technician. He could build a house from scratch and everyone that knew him knew that if you wanted the job done right you call Jesse Jenkins. Jesse was affectionately known as a “Jack of All Trades” as he was talented in many skilled trades such as mechanic, he was fond of musical instruments and could play the guitar and piano; he loved motorcycles, his white 72 Oldsmobile Cutlass, among others; he was an outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. Through the years he developed a love for farming. He always cared dearly for his pets such as cows, cats, dogs, hogs, chickens but his most beloved care was for horses as Jessie was inseparable from his many racehorses over the years. He won numerous races in Philadelphia, MS at the annual Neshoba County Fair among others. He worked with and trained harness racehorses for well over two decades until the Lord called his name for his final destination. Jesse had developed a personal relationship with the Lord, knew the bible and was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He always provided for his family and believed in family togetherness. He taught his children that education, discipline, and hard work were keys to success in life. He loved in his own unique way.
Jesse married Georgette (Kimbrough) Jenkins on August 2, 1973. They resided on their family farm in Carthage, MS on Allen Road for the remainder of their livelihoods together until their health issues became more pronounced as they grew older.
