Lila Louise Winters (77), passed away peacefully in Ethel, MS at her home in bed June 10, 2020. She was born on March 30, 1943 in Ethel, MS to the late Ann S. Winters and Wallace White and step-father James Winters. She was lovingly known as Weezie, Nana or Auntie to many. Her memory lives on in her real legacy, her family.
She was preceded in death by Mother Miss Anna Marie Seals Winters, of Ethel, MS, Brother James Winters, Jr., Detroit, MI and her only Son, the late Stephen L. Winters, of Pascagoula, MS. She will be missed by two loving daughters, Stacey E. Winters, of Jackson, MS and Syd S. Wilderness, of Merrilville, IN.
Louise attended Tipton Elementary School and furthered her education at Tipton Street High School in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Louise left Mississippi and moved to Chicago, IL to build a better life for her family. Later she lived in Hindsdale, IL as well as Boston, MA for a short period of time.
Louise lived a full rich, over the top life, and confessed her life to Christ before her transition. She was loved by many for her kind acts, her wisdom, friendship and most of all she loved her family. She made an unforgettable impact upon every human being she came in contact with. A rare pearl, a unique soul with an unmatchable drive and spirit Louise was most known for her compassion for others, her witty sense of humor, her charismatic smile, traveling, her gardening and beautiful rose gardens.
Louise attended nursing school at the Baptist Medical Center, was employed a number of years at various entities, ultimately retiring from Dean's Food Company. She also operated the Greenlee OneStop a short time. Her greatest job wasn't really a job but more so a labor of love; her beautiful yard. She spent many hours caring for her numerous fruit trees, roses and plants we all admire.
Her legacy also lives on in her grandchildren: Stephen Winters, Jr., of St. Louis, MO; Scottie Winters, Dallas, TX; Randy Collins, Ethel, MS; Cedric Tippett Jr, Chicago, IL; Aaliyah and Jasmine Wilderness of Merrilville, IN; Diedria (Calvin) Pigues of Memphis, TN; Tenika Winters, Jackson, MS; plus nieces Trudy Jackson and Tracy Winters of Detroit, MI. Weezie also leaves behind great grandchildren: Mykala, Alana, and Katelyn Pigues; Riley Winters and Marley' Rose Martin; Davonta and DaMorris Collins; Stephen Winters III, Milton Winters, Samya Spencer, Zimoreon Clark; Arizona and Harley Winters. She also leaves behind Ashley, Jennifer, Lauren, and the late Lynn Dean whom she raised like her own children. All whom loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm and undying love and caring for them.
She leaves behind "way" too many friends and family to name but one thing we all have in common is our love for her. She left our presence on her good friends' birthday and will be buried on Juneteenth. Louise always made sure we would remember how amazing she was.
