Mary Elizabeth Kennedy Zollicoffer was born December 7, 1953, to the late Frankie Lee and Lillie Kennedy Culp in Durant, MS. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at UMC in Lexington, MS.
Mary was reared by the late Louise and Walter Bruce, Jr. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Liberty Hill AME Church. Mary faithfully served as a former class leader and Bid of Promise Superintendent. She was later consecrated as a Deaconess and served on the Missionary Society and Pastor's Aide Board until her death.
Mary was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Larry Lee Zollicoffer on May 10, 1975. This union was blessed with four daughters. She received her early education at Durant Attendance Center and Durant Municipal School District.
Mary's loving and caring spirit showed in her devotion to her late husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As a matriach, she enjoyed watching their successes, and supporting each during their endeavors. Her past time hobbies included traveling, decorating, attending to her various plants, watching Lifetime movies, and exploring restaurants with her girls. Outside of her commitment to family, her faithfulness in Christ was exhibited through her daily readings of the Bible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie Lee and Lillie Culp, and grand-daughter, Angel Elizabeth Kennedy.
Mary is survived by four (4) daughters: Dawn (Eric) Kennedy of Carthage, MS, Tonia (Terrell) Campbell of Sallis, MS, Tenita (Curtis) Jones of Durant, MS and Latasha (Yvette Maria) Zollicoffer of Gluckstadt, MS; Six (6) sisters: Brenda Culp Brown, Jacqueline (Kevin) Anderson of Durant, MS, Mattie Tolbert of Hoover, AL, Rachel (Doug) Cook of Lake Saint Louis, MO, Sonjia (Randy) Harewood of Buford, GA; and Martha Bruce of Indianola, MS; three brothers: George Kennedy of Hoover, AL, Dewain (Michele) Culp of Madison, MS and Malcolm Culp of Athens, GA; Ten (10) grandchildren; six (6) great-grandchildren, a Special Cousin (Sister): Yvette Bruce, a Special God-Son: Rev. The family of Mary Elizabeth Kennedy Zollicoffer takes immense comfort in God's assurance that we are not alone during this time of bereavement. Words alone fail to express our gratitude for the love, prayers, food, calls, cards, and support that was extended to our family. A special thank you to UMMC Medical Staff, Liberty Hill AME Zion Church Family, and Durant Police Department for their support and service of our loved one. Your dedication and kindness will never be forgotten. May God bless each of you. Thank you, The Zollicoffer Family!

To the Zollicoffer family, thank you for allowing me to be a part of the family. Mother Mary made me feel so welcomed. May God's peace that surpasses all understanding keep your hearts and mind in Christ Jesus during this time.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11:25-26 Amber Speese
