Melvinia K. Woods was born July 30, 1952, to the late George Washington Kirkwood and Doris Dell Chester Kirkwood in Holmes County, Mississippi.

On July 1, 2022, Melvinia K. Woods peacefully departed this life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John T. Woods and six siblings, Terry Kirkwood, Thomas Jefferson Kirkwood, John Earl Kirkwood, George W. Kirkwood Jr., Eyvonne Crawford-Gray, and Yvonne Brooks.

Left to cherish Melvinia's loving memory, her five children: Michael D. Kirkwood, Cedrick (Kimberly) Kirkwood, Christopher (Arnetha) Woods, Eutella Washington and Sharon Kirkwood-Harmon; siblings, Jimmy (Mary Jean) Kirkwood, Joe (Mary) Cross, Dianne Kirkwood, Betty (Martin) King, Jeffery (Sherry) Lowery, Thomas G. (Bobbie Jean) Kirkwood, Doris Kirkwood, Alfreda (Bradley) Reynolds, Ruthe J. Kirkwood, Keith (Diane) Lowery, Debra Kirkwood, Rhonda Cobbins, Wanda Kirkwood, Calvin Chester, and O'Brian Robinson. Stepmother, Emma L. Kirkwood. Sisters-in-law, Dessie Ree Kirkwood and Hope Kirkwood. She also leaves Aunt Charlie Mae Joiner, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Dwight Glover.
