Obituary For Shirley Wise

Mrs. Shirley Rose Draine-Wise was born February 28, 1953, in Eupora, MS to the late Delmar Draine "Delma" and the late Rosetta Taylor "Madea".

Shirley Wise departed this life on January 31, 2023, at Unity Point Hospital in Waterloo, IA. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister Annie Bell, and 1 grand-daughter Breanna Jean Mose.

Shirley was born in Eupora, MS and grew up on the family farm picking cotton and farming with her father Delma just outside Eupora city limits. Shirley spent many days and nights worshiping our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at the family church Jordan Chapel. Shirley attended Eupora Consolidated High School. In 1970, Shirley married Willie Frazier Robinson and to this union 3 sons were born: Richard Scott Robinson, Joe Fredrick Robinson, and Sedrick Vincent Robinson. In 1974, Shirley and her family moved to Waterloo, Iowa following in the footsteps of her siblings Joe, George, and Carrie. Shirley was hired at John Deere and worked as a Crib Attendant for years. Shirley also worked at GMAC Mortgage where she met lifelong friends. Shirley went back to school and completed a Criminal Justice degree from Hawkeye Community College and was hired by them shortly after graduation as a Security Officer. Shirley retired from Hawkeye Community College in 2000. God and family remained Shirley's focus throughout her life. Shirley served as an Usher at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in Waterloo where she remained a servant for 30 years. Shirley became an adoptive mom to many of her sons' friends over the years when they had no place to call home. Shirley married Moses B. Wise in 2013. Shirley grew tired of the cold Iowa weather and moved back home to Mississippi in 2009. Shirley continued to serve the LORD, wherever she went. She joined New Banyon MB Church of Kosciusko, MS and quickly became an intricate part of the Usher Board.

To cherish in her memories, Shirley leaves behind 3 sons; Scott Robinson (Gina) of Waterloo, IA, Dr. Joe Robinson of Boston, MA, and Pastor Sedrick Robinson (Imani) of St. Louis, MO, 3 brothers and 2 sisters; Delmar Draine Jr. (Detroit, MI), Joe Willie Draine (Debra) of Eupora, MS, George Albert Draine (Waterloo), Carrie Levy (Fred) of Waterloo and Carolyn Draine of Eupora.

Shirley Rose has 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 1 step great-grandchild, many nieces, and nephews.
