God is Love. Those are three simple but remarkable words Tangelia Wallace "LaShaun" lived and served this world by as a mother, daughter, sister, wife, community activist, civic volunteer and so much more. And it is through God's unconditional and enduring love that LaShaun transitioned to her eternal home on August 18, 2020 after a brief illness.
A life of service, sacrifice, joy and unwavering love began when LaShaun was born in Chicago in 1972 and raised in Kosciusko by parents William "Stan" and Sara McKinney. LaShaun embraced her love of Christ at an early age attending Wesley United Methodist Church in Kosciusko while serving in youth ministry role. She graduated from Kosciusko High School in 1991 and initially attended the University of Southern Mississippi before ultimately completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications at the University of Phoenix. LaShun had recently resumed her studies to complete post-graduate certification courses in Digital Photography from Michigan State University.
It was LaShaun's love of faith, family and fitness that fueled her passion in life. She served as founder and director of Duffles4kids, a non-profit foundation that has raised awareness and distributed duffel bags filled with clothing and resources to thousands of foster and adoptive children in Florida and Tennessee since 2008. Since moving to Memphis in 2016, LaShaun has worked in membership or ambassador roles with the Junior League of Memphis, Memphis River Parks Partnership, the Orange Mound Community Center, Read2Achieve, Black Girls Run, Girltrek, the Memphis Runners Club and the Memphis Mom Blog. As a result of her community work, she was recently named the Junior League of Memphis 2020 Volunteer of the Year.
Her passion for community service and running led to LaShaun recently completing two half-marathons and winning dozens of medals in 5K/10K runs and walks throughout the world. The only thing LaShaun cherished more was supporting her children in their pursuits of music, education, science and sports. She combined her love of family and travel for a favorite pastime of hitting the road at a moment's notice with her husband and children to visit family and sites.
LaShaun is survive most immediately by her parents, Stan and Sara McKinney of Kosciusko, Mississippi; husband of 21 years, Michael; daughters, Kathy, Kourtney and Kelly; sons, Kori and Kevin; Stepchildren, Michael Jr. and Jasmine; brother, Dederick (Teresa) McKinney of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and grandmother, Bernice McKinney of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

I've known LaShun probably majority of my life. Our mothers was friends. We went to school together, was both in the band etc. I spoke with her a couple of times before my divorce, we tried to stay in touch, so when I heard about her reuniting with our Lord & Saviour, I was sad! But she was a beautiful soul & WILL be missed! ❤️
We, the family of Tangelia LaShaun Wallace, sincerely thank everyone for the many comforting words and genuine acts of kindness in our time of bereavement. We would especially like to thank the Wesley United Methodist Church family, the Winters family, the nurses at Hospice Care at Baptist East Memphis, the Junior League of Memphis and the Memphis Grizzlies staff. Truly an amazing woman of God. On last year we got a chance to jog a few times together on Friday mornings at 5am on the river. We've gone bike riding together and she supported a community walk I hosted in South Memphis. I absolutely loved her spirit. She will be missed. I am praying for the family. My deepest condolences. May the good Lord walk with you and comfort you. -Latasha Echols

LaShaun was a beautiful woman who loved and supported the women in her community like no other. She was special. She moved with compassion and wouldn't hesitate to let us know when the Bolingbrook or Orange Mound Trekkers needed support. She was a true sisters keeper, and an incredible human being. This world was a better place because of her.
I loved following her journey. The walks and charity races that she did were so inspiring to watch. I will truly miss LaShaun and will honor her memory by using her example to help light my way. Yesterday I walked in her honor. Sending love and light to her family at this very Difficult time. Carla Harris, Community Care - GirlTrek
