Obituary For Willie N. Wise

Deacon Willie N. Wise, Sr. born on March 21, 1929, an Attala County, MS, to the parents Roosevelt “Roby” and Edna (Rockett) Wise. “Son,” as he was affectionately known, was the second of seven children.

He married the late missionary Mary Ann (Singleton) in 1949, and together they enjoyed 48 years of marriage, to their union, seven children were born: Edna Mae, Carl Ann, Willie Jr., Frank, Ida D., Elton and Thomas.

In the early years of his marriage, Willie and Mary Ann worked as sharecroppers and farmers, laboring together to provide for their family. Over the years, Willie maintained his hard work ethic, which included working for 14 years at Sheller Globe and after many years of faithful service, retiring from the Attala County Nursing Home.

He accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Hopewell M.B. Church. He also attended Sanridge M.B. Church and later became a devoted member of St. Mark M.B. Church, where he served faithfully as Head of Deacons Board for many years until his health declined.

After 97 full years. Willie Wise transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, July 16th in Kosciusko, MS.

Willie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Missionary Mary Ann; his parents, Roby and Edna Wise; his daughter, Ida D. (Johnson); his grand-daughter, Tara; and his sisters, Annie Adeline (Latiker) and Irene (Phillips).

Willie leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving children: Edna (Mack) Stewart of Sallis, MS; Carl Ann (Michael) Williams of Pearl, MS; Willie (Paula) Wise, Jr. of Kellyton, AL; Frank (Loleatha) Wise of Kosciusko, MS; Elton (Lavett) Wise, Sr. of Kosciusko, MS; and Thomas (Alice) Wise of Buffalo, Minnesota and grand-daughter, Chandra Wise of Brandon, MS, whom he lovingly raised as his own.

His legacy continues through 18 loving grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and his surviving siblings, Eugene Wise, Amos Wise, Leroy Wise, Sr. and Johnny Loree (Riley) Wise.

In 1999, Willie married Benny Harmon Jones. Through this union, he was blessed with an extended family whom he warmly embraced. Those left to cherish his memory include Brenda Banks, Linda Rollins, Winda White, Casinda Dixon, Dashana Jones, Toyhana Williams, and Summer Newman. He was preceded in death by Shantae Jones and Antoine Jones. He also leaves a host of extended grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
