Reverend Daisy Ree Albert was born May 12, 1943. She was predeceased by her father Benjamin and Mother
Christine (Smith) Thomas. Rev. Albert was born and raised in Paterson, NJ. She attended schools in Passaic
County in New Jersey. She came to faith at an early age attending The Hawthorne Bible School and later in life
the P.A.G. Bible Academy. As a youngster she was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church where she sang with
the church choir. During her time there she befriended Golden Bonaparte. They were friends the remainder of
their lives. Aunt Goldie, as she would come to be known, would go on to introduce Rev. Albert to her nephew.
He would become her future husband. In her teenage years, she joined the Macedonia Church of God in Christ
in Paterson, NJ.
In 1965 Mrs. Albert was joined in holy matrimony to the late Benjamin Albert Sr. From their union three
beautiful children were born. Shortly after marriage she joined the New Hope Temple Church where she served
on several ministries. In 1990 she joined the Paterson Assembly of God. She was ordained in 1995 under the
leadership of Reverend Gregory Capers. During her time at Paterson Assembly of God, Rev. Albert served as
the President of the New Members Class. In addition to being a Pastor’s Aide, she worked diligently within the
Nursing Home, Women’s and Feed The Hungry Ministries. As a byproduct of her hard work and dedication
through the church, she received an award of recognition from the Mayor and City Council of Paterson, NJ.
After the death of her husband in 2001, Rev. Albert relocated to Greensboro, NC. During that time she became
Pastor/Senior Pastor of the City Of Hope Church, again under the direction of Rev. Gregory Capers. She
eventually joined The Gethsemane Missionary Church where she was an Associate Minister serving as Chaplain
for the Women’s Ministry. She was also an Assistant Teacher of the New Members Class, she was instrumental
in the administration of the Prayer, Prison and Nursing Home Ministries. During her life she loved teaching
Sunday School. Rev. Albert’s final church home was as a member of The Next Level Christian Church in
Greensboro, NC.
In addition to her work on behalf of the church, Rev. Albert worked to raise money for the NAACP in support
of their efforts to improve Racial Justice, Equal Opportunity and Social Change. In 2015, she earned the
distinction of being the Greensboro NAACP Mother of The Year. She was a member of the Greensboro
Council of The Blind, Concerned Citizens for Economic and Environmental Justice, and The Nealtown
Neighborhood Association. She was also a member of The Greensboro Voters Alliance, the Renaissance
Community Cooperative (RCC) as well as The Democratic Women of Guilford County.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rev. Daisy Albert was preceded in death by a brother Emanuel
“Skeet” Thomas.
She leaves to honor her legacy, two daughters Michele Renee Franklin (Michael), and Vanessa Vivian Martin
(Rodney), both from Greensboro, NC. One son Benjamin Albert Jr. (Lisa) of Longmeadow, MA.
Eight Grandchildren Darek Carter (Ashley), Rasheem Martin (Shamayra), Shaquille Martin, Sgt. Justin
Franklin, Ahmad Martin, Jordan Franklin, Maya Christine Albert and Elijah Albert.
Two Great Grand Daughters Serenity Martin and Zuri Franklin.
She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, church family members, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at Next Level Christian Church located at 2222 W. Florida St. Greensboro, NC. Family visitation will begin at 10:00am, celebration of life beginning at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park.
