Sonya, we've known each other and been friends since middle & high school. You were sweet, kind , funny and a honest true friend. We last saw each other in November-at my niece reception dinner. I hugged you from behind and said, hey Beautiful .. you hollered out my childhood nickname, Skeetah ... forgetting ALL about my government name, lol. Although we haven't seen each other in years due to living miles & states apart ... we picked up right where we left off. We hugged, talked, laughed and were really-really happy/excited gto see one another. We also talked the next day too. When I heard the news of your passing ... it hit me like a ton of bricks. Good friends are like rare jewels, difficult to find and impossible to replace Fly high my friend, your beautiful smile will truly be missed!

Dear Sonya, it has been a week when Mary texted me you have passed away. I don't know where to start or even how to start but all I know is I miss you so much and wish god haven't took you away from us so soon. Your golden heart and your bright smile makes everyone day from bad to good. I miss hearing your funny story and your smile when you walked inside the shop. I always see you as mom cause you listen and give me the best advice without judging me and you always remember my birthday when no else remember. Mrs. Ponder was well respected every where she went, She never gave out bad vibes always was down to laugh about life even though she was definitely a serious person. Her advice she gave me about life and relationships always worked. That food she cooked was always good she passed the cooking skills right on down to Mary cause she can cook so well just like her. She always made sure everybody ate whether if she knew you or not. The first time I met her it was like I been knew her for years, she was such a special individual I still cant believe she isn't here with us anymore. God don't make mistakes so I would never question him. Im honored to have known her through her daughter Mary, I've attended plenty of family events and all were fun and family oriented. May her soul rest in peace. ❤️

Dear Miss Sonya, I can't believe that you are no longer here with us. I've known you for several years and each time we had an interaction you were always pleasant. You are the epitome of a real mother, wife, and woman. You were always so nurturing making sure that your family and others that you loved were taken care of. Whether you were cooking a delicious meal, Giving back to your community through your organization known as HALO, or simply bestowing wisdom upon others. Growing up alongside your daughter Toffee I always felt accepted and welcomed. Whenever she ate you made sure I ate too. Whenever she was picked up from school if it was planned for us to hang out I was picked up too. You would even go out of your way to make me some conch salad simply because you knew how much I loved it. Thank you for extending your kindness to me throughout the years and accepting me. You have motivated me and always given me sound advice. Although I am typically an optimistic person losing you has been so difficult to process. So In your memory, I intend to take care of those you love. I will support those who you have left behind in the physical because anyone who knew you knew that FAMILY meant the world to you. Ms Ponder , coming with a heavy heart I don't even know where to start . I've met you a few years back through your babygirl and we went from there. You had a very good heart and you did everything you could to help anybody I loved your energy , you always made me laugh , never was a dull moment , I grew to call you mama to I'm so happy your kids shared me with you I had fun Every-time we were together . My only Sister, a Jewel to my Mother,me Angy, my brothers and the entire family and everyone she knew!! Will always be my Precious, Gentle, loving Soul. I loved my sister and I'm gonnamiss her dearly always telling me Angy, don't say that, you know God don't like that and stop yelling at me. Nobody couldn't say that to me but my Sissy.
