Alice Louise Graves, “Big Red”, 69, of Louisville died Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Norton’s Brownsboro Hospital.

Visitation Friday 11-1 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church 4033 Vermont Ave. Funeral to follow at 1pm. W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home in charge.

Alice Louise Graves was born Sunday, January 20, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Virginia Elizabeth Cochran and Richard Levi Cochran, Sr. She was the oldest of their seven children, and her love for family was evident throughout her life. Alice attended Central High School.

Traveling was something Alice genuinely enjoyed. She had a ball wherever she went, and it was evident because of that big smile on her face. If there was a party, Alice became the life of the party. Although, when necessary, she could become straight forward and would not hesitate to express what was on her mind. Anyone who ever met her loved her. She was known for her RED HAIR, and oh, how she loved her jewelry! There was a ring on every finger. Alice was also a big U of L fan. There was this serious statement which she expressed when needed, and it was understood and accepted by those who knew her well: “If I go in and take off my shoes, I’m not coming back out… period!”

Sadly, on Thursday, February 25, 2021, Alice Louise Graves departed this earthly life. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Cochran. Alice Louise Graves leaves to cherish her memory: six children, Vodria (Derrick), Annette, Demound (Vermissa), Ramound, Corey and Lanesha; siblings, George Cochran (Karmen), Jackie Cochran, Robert Cochran, Linda Cochran, and Rev. Patrica Cochran Pullin (DeWayne); 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 8 nieces; 4 nephews; and a host of more relatives, extended family, and friends.

Death is but the opening of the door,

From this life into a larger, richer, fuller life.

Not even going away… but a coming home.
