Clifford Benard Monteria,76, of Louisville, transitioned on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at his home.

Visitation 11-12 Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Community Missionary Baptist Church 4909 E. Indian Trail. Funeral to follow at 12 Noon. Burial Petersburg-Newburg Cemetery.

Clifford Benard Monteria was born on Wednesday February 04,1948 to the late Mary Virginia Monteria in Shelbyville, KY. He passed away on Sunday July 28, 2024, at 4:00 pm with his Grandson Jamaal Issiah Randle by his side. Cliff better known as Chicken Man, Clifford nard/nod or at work Ben, loved to cook his ribs, dance and party till the cows come home.

Cliff was a student at Central High school, and was later employed at Anderson News Company for 27 plus years. He drove a delivery truck, distributing magazines to local stores in the tri-state area. Some delivery trucks from other companies would often trade items from their 2100 delivery. He would get books, magazines, and the occasional Little Debbie’s to share with his loved ones.

He was united in marriage to Triella Talbott for 10 years. He was a father figure to her four sons Glenn A. Skinner, Sherman A. Skinner, Kim L. Skinner and James A. Skinner Jr. On Saturday January 2, 1971, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Lisa Michelle (Monteria) Ricketts.

Three years later he met Emma Jean Firman along with her two children Tasha T. Simpson and Terell E. Simpson. They united in marriage on Sunday November 27, 1983. Shortly after marriage, on Tuesday December 6, 1983, they welcomed a little bundle of joy Mianeka Leigh (Monteria) Preston. They remained married for 32 years.

If you look up the word Derby, you will see a picture of Cliff with a big smile next to a grill filled with delicious BBQ. He and Emma Jean Firman would throw the best Derby parties of all time. Family and friends old and young would come from all over for the music, food, games and great conversation. He loved calling his loved ones by catchy nicknames like Pooh Bear, Jade Bird, Rabbit, June Bug, and Bones. If he had a soft spot for you, he would let you know by giving a playful flick to the forehead or back of the ear.

He was also a man that made sure he was heard “And I mean that”. For those that knew him best, knew that he ain’t stupid and he ain’t stuck on stupid. If he wanted to shout for joy, he would give out a loud “POOTIE POO WOOTY WOO” “What it be like?”. Along with his bird like whistling, you knew he was close by, hand out, and ready to two step with or without music.
