Deborah Elestine Mahone, 68, of Louisville transitioned on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

Visitation 11am - 1pm Saturday, June 15, 2024, at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 1pm.

Deborah Elestine Mahone was born on February 9, 1956, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Dora Myrtle Mahone and Kenneth Sweeney, Sr. She was lovingly raised by Carrie Anthony. Deborah grew up in a home filled with love and care, surrounded by family who cherished her.

From a young age, Deborah displayed a spirited and vibrant nature. She attended Warren East High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky where she proudly danced as a member of the Raderatte Dance Team. Her zest for life and infectious energy were evident to all who knew her. She continued her education at Western Kentucky University for two years and later showcased her beautiful voice as a background sender for John Edmons Gospel Truth.

Deborah’s life was characterized by her giving nature, determination and unwavering generosity. She always stood her ground and put the needs of others before her own. With a heart as big as her spirit and known for her straightforward and matter-of-fact personality. She had a feisty spirit that was always ready to feed you good food and cuss you out at the same time.
No matter what, like clockwork you would walk into her home and find her with a cigarette in front of her TV. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, watching cooking shows and Westerns, listening to “Old School Music” and decorating her Christmas tree with meticulous care and love each holiday season.

She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, cheering for her team with unbridled enthusiasm. Her beloved boxer dog, Roscoe, was her faithful companion for about a year, always finding comfort at her feet.

Deborah dedicated 28 years of her life to Bell South where she worked diligently and retired with a legacy of hard work and community. She was known for her detailed nature, saving every picture and trinket and keeping meticulous records.

On June 5, 2024, Deborah Elestine
Mahone at the tender age of 68, departed this life. Deborah is survived by her children, Frederick Mahone and Erica Mahone, who were the light of her life; her beloved life partner of 38 years, Anthony Tillman; beloved siblings Kennetha Mahone, Sandra (Charles) Bunton, Sr., Stephanie (Elaine) Mahone, Eric Mahone, and Kenneth Sweeney; a host of nieces and nephews including Carvel Ford, Zyrann Hibbitt, and Jahquai Ford, whom she helped raise like their grandmother along with numerous cousins, family members and friends who will deeply miss her warm presence and loving spirit. Deborah was preceded in death by her brothers Frederick Lowe and Donald Ray Mahone, and Carrie Anthony, who raised her.

Deborah Elestine Mahone’s life was a tapestry of love, resilience and tenacity. Her legacy of strength and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
