Obituary For Doris Jean Moore Robinson

Doris Jean Moore Robinson Williams 88, died Saturday, November 28, 2020 at home.

Visitation 11-12 Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Greater Friendship Baptist Church 2325 Osage Ave. Private funeral to follow. W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Doris Jean (Moore) Williams was born in Louisville, Kentucky on November 30, 1931 to the union of the late Norton C. Moore Sr. and Ethel Thomas Childs. She was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1949. After over 30 years of service, she retired from Norton Hospital.

She was a shining light in the lives of her family and friends. Her quick wit and sense of humor was matched by her warm and embracing heart.

Her strong Christian faith and love for her family were her highest priorities in life. She cherished spending time with her family, especially celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. One of her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and she often recalled many funny and endearing stories about the time she spent with them. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was the best "Grannie - Doris Grannie - Grannie Doris".

Doris is preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, John W. Williams; sons, Owen “Poncho” Robinson and Eric “Petey” Robinson; daughter Carolyn Robinson; siblings Estella Mae Moore, Norton Moore Jr, Barbara Ann Moss; grandchildren Meredith Robinson Jr. and Stacey Robinson.

On November 28, 2020, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, ended her earthly journey at Christian Health Center. She leaves to celebrate her life with her children: Meredith (Barbara), Robert (Carla), Deborah, Pamela Morton (Geary), Kevin (Beverly) Robinson; stepchildren, John Frederick and Vickie Williams; sister Constance Yokum; daughter-in-law Susan Robinson; and brother-in-law Hiram C. Moss; grandchildren, Dana Burns, Danita Lewis, Monique Malone, Kevin, Jr., Eric Jr., Courtney, Kendra, Dominique, David, Colton, Marcus, Brandon Robinson, Antione Mullins, LaKeisha, Ebony and Jaquar Williams; and a host of family and friends whom were blessed to know her.
