Obituary For Bishop Lonnie Griffin
With the dawning of a new day, Bishop Lonnie Griffin, 93, of the Fechtig community of Early Branch, SC, entered into the peace of God's eternal slumber at his residence on Monday, October 2, 2023. Bishop Griffin was the widower of Lear Murray Griffin, and the son of the late Issac Griffin and Cora Cox Griffin.
A WWII Army Veteran, he was employed for numerous years in the pulpwood industry. A man who truly stood on the promises of God and was faithful to his call, he pastored the Barkersville Holiness Church, Barkersville, SC for many years.
A precious father, loving and kind grandfather, and loved one, his gentle laughter, and reassuring smile fills the hearts of his loved ones.
Visitation: Friday, October 6th, 2-4pm Chapel of Young Funeral Home. Wake Service 5-7 pm, Barkersville Holiness Church, 23908 Pocotaligo Road, Early Branch. SC.
Funeral Service: Saturday, October 7th 11:00 am in the Fennell Hill New Church of Christ, 970 Tulifinny Rd, Yemassee. SC. Burial in the Springhill Cemetery. Hacklous Road, Early Branch. SC with military honors..

I'll never forget after being away from home 40 years, I stopped and talked to your Mr. Lonnie and he recalled my name and said "You're Shanky boy Ricky, as if I never left home.
