Cora Mae Pryor Brown, 69, wife of Aston Brown, of Walterboro, SC quietly entered into God's eternal peace and rest at her home. Surrounded by her family on Tuesday evening, October 29th, she left mortality for immortality. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, November 8th, 1-8 pm in the Chapel of Young Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9th, two o'clock pm in the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church,12074 Hendersonville Hwy, (Roadside), Yemassee, SC. Burial in the church cemetery. Cora Mae Brown: Sunrise-March 3rd 1950 in Whitehall, South Carolina to Dan Pryor Sr. and Florence Green Pryor who preceded her in death. Sunset-Tuesday October 29th 2019 at home. Cora obtained her HS diploma from within the Colleton County education system. She became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. A. L. Polite. Cora relocated to Brooklyn, NY in 1966. She married and divorced in 1979. Her previous union begot two children (Danette and Bernard Jr.). She remarried on June 13th 1984 to Aston Brown. Of a previous union Aston has two children (Clandale and Olivia) which Cora loved as her own. While in Brooklyn, NY Cora maintained Christian membership at Bethany Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Dr. William Augustus Jones Jr. As a loyal member of Bethany Baptist Church for over 40 years she served as a dedicated choir member until she returned home to SC in 2007. In Brooklyn, Cora worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant for New York Life Insurance Co. As well as a switchboard operator for NYU Downstate Hospital. She was well travelled with an immense amount of friends as she was loved by all. She was compassionate, caring and selfless. Cora was adored for her many talents including cooking, baking as well as arts and crafts. In 2007, she retired and returned home to Colleton County. As a result of her helping nature/spirit she returned to work at Colleton High School for several years. She also volunteered at several pantries as a way of giving back to the community and those less fortunate. She leaves to cherish the memory of her selflessness a husband, Aston Brown, daughter, Danette Rutledge , son Bernard Rutledge Jr., son Clandale Brown, daughter Olivia Brown; seven brothers, John Henry Pryor (Dot), St. Matthews, SC, Thomas Pryor, Bubba Pryor, James Pryor and John Pryor (all deceased), Dan Pryor Jr. (Antionette) Brooklyn, NY, McArthur Washington (Saundra); four sisters, Rosa Morrison (deceased), Annie Gustus (Martin, deceased) Columbia, SC, Rainie Pryor (deceased), Sarah Francis (deceased); six grandchildren, Demetria (Suk) Rutledge-Bostock (Travis) Brooklyn, NY, Tatianna Atkins Wilkes Barre, PA, Clandella Brown McDonald, GA, Jazmyne Walker-Brown Atlanta, GA, Mahalia Brown McDonald Georgia, Anna Brown Savannaah GA; three great grandchildren, Travis Bostock Jr., Brooklyn, NY, Kajuan Atkins and Ky'Heir Atkins both of Wilkes- Barre, PA and a vast number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, friends and well wishers.
