In the cool of the morning, on Thursday, January 20, 2022, Herman said "yes" to the call of the Heavenly Father. Herman Brantley was born August 1, 1929, Aiken, SC, to the late Rosa Richardson and Marshall Brantley, Sr. In his early adult life, he relocated to New York City where he was employed with the New York Hilton as a Carpet Layer for thirty-five years. At an early age, he was baptized and united with the Antioch Baptist Church, Pineland, SC. While in New York, he fellowshipped with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons. In his retirement, he returned to his native home and reunited with the Antioch Baptist Church. He served on the Board of Deacons and sang with the Gospel Choir. Not only did he sing, Herman "picked" the guitar. His love of music led him to be a part of the Brantley Brothers Gospel Singers. They performed throughout South Carolina and many parts of Georgia. In New York, he once again became a part of the Brantley Brothers Gospel Singers. They performed on the famous stage of the New York Apollo Theatre. They became professional artists, and performed in churches and convention centers throughout the state of New York.
Herman was preceded in death by four wives: Emma, Marie, Lorenza, and Almeida. The Lord did not bless Herman with any children. His memories will forever abide with his brothers, sister, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
