Flora Mae Cooper of the Coosawhatchie community of Jasper County South Carolina was summoned home on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the age of 79. She was the daughter of the late Bessie Mae Graham and late James Thomas.
Flora Mae grew up in Coosawhatchie and was one of 14 siblings. She worked as a professional caregiver for many years in both South Carolina and New York City. She retired from the profession and spent her retirement years enjoying time with family and friends.
She is survived by her five children: Lisa Thomas, Rickie Lorenzo Thomas Sr., David Taylor Jr., Shawn Samuel Chisolm and Alex Joseph Cooper. Across her children she has 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 22, 2023, 1:00 pm in the Pilgrim Ford Missionary Baptist Church, 20 Pilgrim Ford St., Yemassee, SC. Burial will follow in the Moncepoe Cemetery, Coosawhatchie, SC.
