With heavy hearts and deep reverence, I reflect on the first time I met Mr. James "Jimmy" Smalls a man whose calm and cool demeanor left a lasting impression on me. His presence carried a quiet strength: steady, humble, and unwavering. After meeting his children and getting to know their lively personalities, I often wondered how he managed to remain so composed. I remember hearing that, at one point, he put Akim and Jihad out of the house. My mother laughed about that story for years. We always wondered, what did they do? One afternoon, Mr. Jimmy stopped by my mother's home. His warm smile and gentle spirit made my parents feel as though he had been a longtime friend of the family. He had a way of making any space feel familiar, any moment feel at ease. There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Jimmy will be especially welcomed through the gates of heaven. His kindness, his steadiness, and his quiet grace will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

My condolences to the Smalls family. Mr. Smalls (Pop Smalls), growing up I thought you never talked—you'd just grunt and look at me like I was crazy. As I got older, I realized you not only talked but had plenty of jokes. I'm grateful for the laughs and conversations we shared, for visiting you and Mama Smalls this past year, and for our recent phone call about all the changes in Newark and Schley St. My wife and I love you deeply and will miss you more than words can say. Mrs. Smalls you have my deepest condolences, Mr. Smalls was an awesome man. I know I used to drive him crazy when I would come over and he would be sitting at the kitchen table resting his eyes and I was told not to bother him. My uncle always had a way of bringing a smile to my face. My last conversation with him still resonates in my mind. I could hear Aunt Mary saying " Your niece Lynn is on the phone." He answered with such joy and excitement in his heart and gave a warm shoutout-"oh it's my niece!" He was always happy to hear from me. We laughed so hard about his age, I know now that God graced him with 86 wonderful years. You had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcome-it's a gift I'll alway cherish.

I remember when I asked daddy to teach me to drive. He took me on the turnpike at rush hour. Made me drive on the truckers side. Told me to drive. And I better not crash his car. My condolences to the family, it was the will of God in allowing me to be around your family, wow pop was ruff at first ,but when he seeing me working so much, he back down alittle keeping his guard up,he truly was a man with alittle words to be said, be was always knowing what was going on with in his house,now our GOD has called him to do his last truck run to Heaven, REST well pops, you did a great job down here
