In the stillness of the dawning day on Monday, May 1, 2023 in the Pruitt Healthcare Center, Bamberg, SC, Rev. Roger Smalls, left all that is mortal to embrace the peace of God's eternal rest. A resident of Yemassee, SC, he was the husband of Joan Smalls. He was a son of the late Thelma Ann Robinson and Leroy Smalls. A native of White Plains, NY, he resided most of his life in White Plains. An entrepreneur, he was the owner of a cleaning business.
Rev. Smalls was a chosen vessel of God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His church affiliations in New York and South Carolina allowed him to satisfy his duty.
A voice we loved is stilled. The essence of his well-spent life remains near and dear to his wife, children, and his entire family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, 11:00 am in the Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 908 Trask Pkwy, Sheldon, SC 29941. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Your prayers and kind expressions of sympathy are appreciated.

To Denise and Joan, my heart goes out to you in your time of beverement may the lord bless you and keep you
To Gina and the entire Smalls family, my condolences to you. So many fond memories and experiences with God-Pa. Was always very inspiring. He was a good God-Father, a true man of GOD, and an anointed and energetic preacher. We've lost a good one; we've lost a true one. GOD Bless the Smalls family and his church family.... David Blake 😞 💔
To Joan & the family, I was both shocked and saddened to hear of Rev. Roger Small's transition. He was such an example of a man who lived what he preached. The saying, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." He was blessed with parents who loved the Lord and taught the same to their sons. His mother would often share words of encouragement and expressions of love to me whenever I'd see her. Rev. Smalls possessed that same spirit of love and concern for people. Joan, I recall the last time I saw you in WP/Greenburgh, you both seemed so happy as you talked about the Lord. Cherish those precious memories. One of my favorite scriptures is Ps. 30:5b,"...weeping may endure for a night, but JOY comes in the morning." May God's joy, love and peace comfort and strengthen you during this time. Prayerfully submitted in love, Karen Thomas Jenkins White Plains, NY
May God bless the family. Our God is merciful and all knowing. Cousin Rev. Thelma, Dec. Leroy and Leroi are now joined by Roger. We will keep them in our prayers and continue to celebrate them through our stories and memories. To be absent from the body simply means you are present with the Lord. Thank you God. To the immediate family we hope that you continue to lean on Him. He will walk you through this tough time. In sympathy,Cynthia Murphy Bennett daughter of Alvina (Freddie,Sr.) Alston Murphy and granddaughter of Elias and Mary (Robinson) Alston.
Prayers and Condolences to the Smalls family and friends. Love Always, Deborah and Peggy Arnold from White Plains Deliverance Center
Precious memories how they linger. His contagious smile, love of the word of God, the perfect "southern gentleman" and stylish dress code. We used to tease each other when we thought we both looked fabulous. I would say, "let's take a vote" and he would say, "Let's call it a tie"! Barbara Murray (retired organist), White Plains Deliverance Center, Mount Vernon, NY. When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be!
To the Smalls family , my deepest sympathy to you and your family! May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you!

Our sincere prayers are extended to the family of Rev. Smalls. John wrote in Revelation 14:13 - And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from now on: Yes, said the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them. May your work speak for you!!!
