Obituary For Rozy Mingo

Rozy Mingo was on born September 26, 1946, in Colleton County, SC, to the late Merlow Mingo and Audrey Grant Mingo. He was educated in the public schools of Colleton County and was a 1966 graduate of Ruffin High School. Rozy was employed by Dayco Products, LLC for the majority of his adult life. In the early years of his life, Rozy was a member of Indian Creek Holiness Church. He then united with the HRB Deliverance Center in Ruffin, South Carolina which was later named Praise Tabernacle Church of Deliverance. Rozy Mingo was called from his earthy home on September 1, 2020, only weeks after his loving and devoted mother, who entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2020. Rozy was known for the love he had for his two beautiful daughters, his fun and comedic personality, and a long- time adoration for music (particularly gospel quartets). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Archie Mingo; one mother-in-law, Jessie Lee Terry; three brothers-in-law, Joe Nathan Lingard, Samuel Terry Jr., and Harry E. Akins; and two sisters-in- law, Clara Mae Akins and Katie Allen. To cherish his memories, Rozy leaves his former spouse and the mother of his children, Rosia Lee Terry Ruggiero [Atlanta, GA]; daughters, Rhonda Mingo [Spartanburg, SC] and Chivon Mingo (Jermell) Jenkins [Atlanta, GA]; three grandchildren, Jenell Jenkins [Miami, FL], Jazmine Mingo [Spartanburg, SC], and Jezelle Jenkins [Atlanta, GA]; two sisters, Myrtis Lingard [Varnville, SC] and Polly Woodall [Palmetto, FL]; one brother, Floyd (Frances) Mingo [York, PA]; one father-n-law, Samuel Terry [Yemassee, SC]; four sisters-n-law, Lula (Howard) Broughton [Ruffin, SC], Annie Lee (Edgar) Akins [Yemassee, SC], Gloria Terry [Smoaks, SC], and Alice Terry [Ritter, SC]; five brothers-n-law, Robert Terry [Walterboro, SC]; Leroy Terry, [Yemassee, SC], Willie Lee (Priscilla) Terry [Augusta, GA], Jeff (Maria) Terry [Oxen Hill, MD], and James Allen [Savannah, GA]; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Rozy’s daughters would like to extend a special thank you to his sister, Myrtis Lingard (i.e., Aunt Myrtis), who played an integral role in providing care and support during the time in which Rozy’s health was declining. Additionally, many thanks to all the friends and family who prayed, showed acts of kindness, and expressed words of encouragement during this difficult time. As a result of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and associated CDC recommendations, there will be no public viewing of the body. A memorial service will be held at a later date in which family and friends will be notified.
