In the still of the dawning day time transitioned into eternity as Mrs. Virgie Garner Ellis Hamilton went home to be with the Lord at her residence in Yemassee, SC. Born October 30, 1924, Hampton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jannie Griffin Garner and Kelly Garner. Mrs. Hamilton, 97, the matriarch of her family, was a member of the St. Jude Church of the Apostolic Faith of Yemassee, SC.
She enjoyed singing and visiting with family and friends. Mrs. Hamilton relished the specialties of eating good food and the adoration of bright yellow and green colors.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Mary Roberts, and sons, Willie Ellis, Jr., Herman Ellis, and Lee Troy Ellis.
Those who are left to treasure her legacy and life are: her daughter, Jannie M.Richardson; daughter-in-law. Vera Ellis, daughter; Sarah Hamilton Hazel; two sisters, Vertie Harris and Virginia Kilgore; grandchildren, Adrian, Tommy, Larry, Lisa, Tony, Lorraine, Arlene, Kathleen, Crystal, Steven, Janelle, Natashia, and Donnell; 14 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren; step-children, Lillie Ward, Cora (Jimmy) Rizzo, Shirley Nesmith, Douglas Hamilton, and Abraham Hamilton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation: Monday, September 6, 5-7 pm in the Chapel of Young Funeral Home, Yemassee, SC.
Graveside Service, Tuesday, September 7, 2021, 11:00 am in the St. Jude Cemetery, Riley St., Yemassee, SC.
Mask will be required with CDC guidelines observed.
