Their marriage blessed them with three children (Sandra, Steven and Tony) whom they raised in Durham, North Carolina and attended Northeast Baptist Church.
Levi was not a member of a church but was baptized at World Overcomers Church located in Durham, NC on August 19, 2009. He has a attended various churches throughout his life including St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, Northeast Baptist Church, World Overcomers Church, and Mount Cavalry Church.
Levi was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a caring person who would lend a helping hand to all who crossed his path, whether it was through his service or financially (Matthew 25:31-46). He always took the mentally that he was blessed to be a blessing. Levi was also one who tried to be a peace-maker when there was a dispute (Matthew 5:9)
Throughout his life Levi continued his career as a tailor and eventually ventured out to open his own business as the owner, Levi’s Tailor Shop in 1990. Levi always had a very stringent work ethic and for decades he stated that he would work until he dies. On December 31, 2020, Levi decided to close his business. Levi is survived by his wife of fifty-one (51) years, Patricia, and they were blessed with three children Sandra (Ron) Lewis, Steven Green (Valarie) and Tony Green. He has five grandchildren (Jessica, Michelle, Maxine, Steven, and Tony). His surviving siblings are Pauline Green, Freddy Lee (Ernestine) Green, Eva Lee Butler, and Jeremiah (Theresa) Green, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and a wealth of friends.
I hate that I am just finding out about this, but my heart goes out to you Patricia. He was forever a great man and was always a gentleman. THE BEST TAILOR around, but also a good friend. We traveled together and he was one of the hardest working guys I know. What an inspiration he was. Sending prayers and hugs your way as it is coming up on a year now. Love you guys. I met Levi at his tailor shop about 4 years ago. He was always a pleasure to talk to and kind. Last week I noticed the tailor shop name had changed. Sorry to hear of his passing and I wish his family peace and joy.
My condolences to the family of Mr. Levi Green and family please let not your hearts be troubled. Mr. Green is at a place where there is no more pain and sorrow but of peace and joy of which he has achieved by going home with the Lord! I met Mr. Green through his daughter Sandra my great friend from the Durham newspaper. Over the years, I would bring items to his shop to be altered or repaired and Mr. Green always had a joke and something positive to say to send all friends and customers away with a smile or laughter. In his absence, his memory will live on through those of us that were in his presence from the tailor shop as well as through the eyes and grieving hearts of his family! Mr. Green I salute you and applaud you and family I know your hearts are heavy but REJOICE, for your father was called home by GOD Almighty so that he can get rest!! GOD Bless You All!! T. Howard
I met Mr.Levi when his shop was at South Square Mall. I was 20 years old and new in business for myself. He not only made my clothes look wonderful, he always encouraged me. Fast forward...when I married at age 25 and was pregnant with my daughter four years later, who's now 21and a rising senior at UNC Chapel Hill, a Tarheel, he was tickled about her going there! Mr.Levi said "oh you're having a baby girl"....I can't remember if it was a check or cash for $25...he said "buy her something from me"...I'm so sad to hear he passed! He was my friend. God has another Angel❤️ Sending condolences to you all, Stacy Terry
I met Pat in the late 70's and later met Levi. He was a kind, caring and considerate person. He loved people and was always ready and willing to help others. I will miss the laughs and cheers with him for our wonderful UNC Basketball Team. I am truly saddened by his passing but I have a lot of good memories. To Levi's family......I will continue to pray for your comfort, guidance and understanding at this difficult time. Helene Canady - Durham NC
Our family, family of Calbert Carlton will forever cherish Levi's memory. He and our dad were the best of friends, while working together and for the many years after. They shared a special brotherly friendship and was always there for each other. We know "Pop" was waiting at the "pearly gates" to welcome Levi home. To Pat and the family we will always keep you close and include you in our prayers. Love, Daryl, Rick, Gary and the Carlton family.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
