Vita Petrina Valencia Jenkins Davis was born on December 17, 1976, in Rhine, Georgia, to Marie Jenkins Anderson and the late William A. Jenkins. Raised in Macon, Georgia, Vita lived a life filled with faith, family, love, strength, and determination.
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Vita transitioned from this earthly life into eternity.
“To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8
Vita was a proud 1996 graduate of Southwest High School. She recently had the joy of attending her 30th class reunion, reconnecting and celebrating with fellow Southwest High School classmates. She completed the Medical Assisting Program at Central Georgia Technical College in 1999 and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Management from Daytona State College in 2011.
Family was at the center of Vita’s life. When her children were young, she proudly devoted herself to being a homemaker, wife, and mother, creating a loving and supportive home for her husband and children. As her family grew, Vita transitioned into a career in government service, working in an administrative capacity with the State Attorney’s Office for Florida’s Seventh Judicial Circuit in Daytona Beach. She remained dedicated to her career until ongoing health challenges led to her retirement.
Vita was also a remarkable 26-year post heart transplant warrior. Her journey was a powerful testimony of faith, courage, and perseverance. Through the victories, setbacks, trials, and blessings of her health journey, Vita openly shared her story with others and always gave God the glory. She refused to allow her health challenges to define her life and remained a fighter until the end.
To know Vita was to know a woman who was loving, courageous, outspoken, and strong. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family deeply. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, experiencing different countries and cultures, and had a special love for butterflies. Through every triumph and trial, Vita held firmly to her faith and never believed in giving up.
Vita was preceded in death by her father, William A. Jenkins, and her beloved son, Deon O. Jenkins.
Vita leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her devoted husband, Dr. Kenneth Davis of Palm Coast, Florida; her son, Kenneth Wayne Davis of Gainesville, Florida; her mother, Sister Marie Anderson of Palm Coast, Florida; her brothers, Dr. William A. Jenkins Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, and Otis M. Whitehead of Fredericksburg, Virginia; her sisters, Anne L. Howard (Kenan) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sierra Tinsley of Byron, Georgia, and Brittany Harts of Rhine, Georgia; her special friend and spiritual sister, Gwensavona Jackson of Jacksonville, Florida; along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many special friends whom she held dear to her heart.
Vita’s life was a beautiful journey of faith, family, love, perseverance, and strength. For 26 years following her heart transplant, she showed us what it meant to fight, to live, to love, and above all, to trust God. Today, we celebrate not only the years of her life, but the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the testimony she leaves behind. To God be the glory for the life and legacy of Vita Petrina Valencia Jenkins Davis.

My beautiful queen rest in Heaven! You are forever loved.
To My Beloved Sister, Vita Petrina Velencia Jenkins Davis
My beloved sister Vita,
There are some people in our lives whose presence can never truly be replaced, because their love becomes a part of who we are. You were that kind of sister to me.
I find myself struggling to put into words what it means to say goodbye to you. You were so much more than my sister—you were family, a source of strength, a woman of tremendous faith, and a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul whose life touched so many people.
Vita, you lived a life that testified to the goodness of God. From your early years in Macon to the woman, wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend you became, you gave so much of yourself to the people you loved. Your family was always close to your heart, and you created a home filled with love, care, and devotion.
I will always admire the strength you carried throughout your life. For 26 years after receiving your heart transplant, you continued to fight, to love, to laugh, to travel, to cook, to celebrate, and to live. You faced challenges that could have broken the spirit of many, but you kept your faith and kept moving forward. You shared your testimony and gave God the glory—not just when things were easy, but through the difficult days as well.
That was Vita.
You were loving. You were beautiful. You were courageous. You were outspoken. You were strong. And you never believed in giving up.
I will remember the joy you found in your family, the places you traveled, the different cultures you experienced, the meals you prepared, and that special love you had for butterflies. Perhaps butterflies are even more meaningful now. They remind us of transformation, beauty, and the promise that what we see is not the end of the story.
I know you carried the memory of Dad and of Deon in your heart. I know their absence was a pain you carried while continuing to love and care for those around you. And now, though our hearts are broken because we have to live without you here, I find comfort in knowing that you are no longer struggling, no longer fighting through pain, and no longer burdened by the things that troubled you in this earthly life.
Your faith carried you through this life, and I believe that faith has now carried you home to our heavenly father.
Your life was not defined by illness. It was defined by the way you overcame. It was not defined by the trials you faced. It was defined by the love you gave in the midst of them. And it was not defined by how your earthly journey ended, but by the beautiful testimony you leave behind.
Vita, I am going to miss you more than words can say.
I will miss knowing that you were just a phone call away. I will miss your voice, your laugh, your personality, your strength, and all those little things that made you uniquely you. I will miss having you here in this world with us.
But I will carry you with me always.
I will carry your memory in my heart. I will carry the lessons your life taught us. I will carry your courage, your faith, and your determination. And whenever I see a butterfly, I will think of you and smile through the tears.
You fought a good fight, my sister. You lived with courage. You loved deeply. You gave generously. You trusted God.
And now, I believe you have entered into that eternal rest you so faithfully believed in.
As Scripture says:
"To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." — 2 Corinthians 5:8
Rest peacefully, my beloved sister.
No more pain. No more struggle. No more tears.
Just peace in the presence of the Lord.
Thank you for being my sister and the BEST aunt (Ti-Ti) that anyone could ask for. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for your love. Thank you for the example you left for all of us.
Until we meet again, Vita, know that you will forever be loved, forever remembered, and forever a part of me.
To God be the glory for your life, your testimony, your strength, and your legacy.
I love you, my sister.
Your brother, William ( Jay )
