Captain Jackie had a beautiful smile and a unpretentious personality. When little things needed to get done at the EDI classes in New Orleans she did it with unselfish willingness. She has finished the race and received her crown.

Greetings, I am deeply saddened having received word of the passing our Beloved Sister Jackie. Jackie was a very active member of her Local Chapter, The Vulcan Pioneer's of Newark New Jersey, one of the Five Founding Organization's of the International Associaton of Black Professional Firefighters (IABPFF). Sister Jackie is a History maker in New Jersey, being the first Black Female Firefighter appointed in Newark Fire Department History, and the First Black Female Promoted to Captain, in the State of New Jersey. Captain Jackie was a role Model for Women across the Country who used her example to become Firefighters, in their own right. I will miss seeing her when we are finally able to resume our Meetings, Reunions and Conventions across the Country in the years to come. I was saddened by the news of the death of our sister, Captain Jacqueline Rendleman Jones, NFD, retired. Captain Jones was an active member within the local, state and international fire community and her activism will be missed. We pause today to pay a richly deserved tribute to the memory of a devoted and highly esteemed first female firefighter/officer of our department. Abraham Lincoln, who, in a memorable address, said: "the world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here". History will never forget Captain J.R Jones..It will note that she climbed some of the highest ladders, carried hose into some of the hottest fires and taught a multitude of children how to "Stop,Drop and Roll during fire safety sessions...and we thank her for her service and for being a role model for others to follow....Rest in Peace Firefighter...
