Born May 14, 1984 Left to be with the Lord on February 16, 2022
Tare’ loved his family and was very protective of them. He made friends during his younger years, that remained his close friends until today. He also made new friends from Charlotte to Atlanta and beyond, that remained his friend until today as well. He never met a stranger and had a giving heart. If you needed him, he was there.
Tare’ was a graduate of Shelby High in 2002. He played football, ran track and he was a member of the Orchestra from Middle School until he graduated. Some of Tare’s honors included being named Most outstanding Freshman , which he received the Horn Citizenship Award. He received the Teen Achiever of the year in 2002, from the Cleveland County YMCA Black Achievers Program. He received the Andrews Academic Scholarship Award, where attended Gardner Webb University. Tare’ has also received numerous awards during his adult life. Tare’ attended Shiloh Baptist Church, where he was baptized at an early age. During his youth, he participated in the Youth Choir, Youth Mission Group and Sunday School.
Tare’ was an avid traveler, he loved adventure. His travels started early in life, when he was a Boy Scout with Troop 101 at First Baptist Church in Shelby. During this time his troop traveled to Canada, where he said was one of the best experiences ever. He loved to dress, and look nice wherever he went. He always said that he wanted to get best dressed in High School, and his Senior year he was honored with “Best Dressed” Superlative. He loved toying with electronics, if you needed anything fixed on your computer, tv, phone etc. he was the man for the job.
Tare’ worked in many different areas, Hotel customer service, and Insurance, just to name a few. His last job was with State Farm, In Atlanta, as a Claims Consultant, before his illness caused him to take a leave of absence.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Freddie Cannon and two uncles, Gerald Cannon and Jay Surratt.
He leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory: his parents, Todd and Veronica Wray and Harvey and Sherrie McSwain; sister: Deveney McSwain;, brothers, Christopher Wray, Harvey McSwain II, Brian Sims (Princess), Brad Strong; grandmother, Bernice Cannon; special niece and nephew: Kaylee Mack, Christopher Wray Jr (CJ).; special aunts and uncles: Frieda C. Lattimore, Alesia Cannon, Sherwood Hardin, Rodney Cannon (Mary Ann); special cousins that were more like brothers and sisters, Tajuana Cannon, Laquandra Cannon, Felicia Cannon, and Cedric Cannon;.other cousins: Rodnisha Cannon, Steven Lattimore and Mia Cannon.
There were many that helped him during his illness and we say thank you, but a special thanks goes out to Brandon Filelds, who helped with his travels back and forth to his doctor appointments, grocery shopping, medicine runs, etc. for that we will be forever grateful.
Along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed from the funeral home’s web page
You became such a big part of my everyday life that the void I now feel is excruciating, Panic attacks and can barely sleep some nights, At the same time it's all so surreal. I am trying desperately to hold on to the many many laughs and great memories and not be selfish because I saw the pain and the fight you put up for the last few years even before we knew what was going on you were fighting the symptoms that were developing. We took time for granted but I appreciate the time we had, I will forever miss your presence in my life. I hope you knew you were loved by so many of us because you made sure we that you loved felt loved. My God continue to be with your family and heal all of our hearts. Brandon F.
RIP kidd , you will be truly missed

The love and impact he made in lives extended farther than his biological family could see but it's a love that you would be proud of. It's truly sad to know we all loss a piece of us but I know I am thankful for even having him as a friend. ET (emotional twin) if ever there was a person that I felt emotionally connected to it was you. Always there to cheer me on and pull me out of my head. You were a fighter to the very end with a smile and a laugh despite your struggles. I know that your soul is resting easily now...and I pray that the fond memories bring your family comfort during their time of mourning. Sleep Easy Babe

Sending prayers to the family. I know that this time is hard but to have had any moment with him is a golden gift from god. He was an amazing friend a great listener and most of all his heart was loving. He played so many roles in different peoples life and holds different moments with us all. I'm glad I got to enjoy the time I did with you. He will truly be missed by so many. But to be absent in the body is to be present with the lord. Save me a seat up there. Nothing that I could ever say could honestly be enough to prove what you meant to me. For over 18 years we've been closer than close and to never get that call saying "hey big head" is gonna hurt. I know you are resting and I'm glad that you're in no more pain. I love you forever and a year! Jake
You were such a light to this world! The world was a better place because you were in it! You were loved by many! You'll be missed by many! Rest well! I love you so much!
When you first moved to Charlotte with me and we cooked spaghetti first night! You actually threw a noodle against the wall! I knew about it but had never seen someone as young as me actually do it! I must have laughed for two hours straight! Just one of endless memories I'll cherish! Rest up King
