OPELOUSAS β Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ, 1606 W. College Ave., Opelousas, LA for Mr. Wesley Winfrey, III, 27, who entered eternal rest on Friday, September 26, 2025 at his residence in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Rev. Dr. Larry J. Lloyd of Spirit of Liberty and Rev. Johnny Offord of Greater New Hope Baptist Church will be officiating the funeral service.
Mr. Winfreyβs memories are being cherished by: his lovely mother, Tracy Ann Lazard of Lafayette, LA and father, Wesley Winfrey, Jr. (Kathleen Fay) of Opelousas, LA; son, Courtlyn James Winfrey and mother of his son Courtney Damond of Lafayette, LA; three sisters, Katelyn Lazard and Racheal Rene, both of Lafayette, LA and Katherine Bill of Beaumont, TX; paternal grandfather, Wesley Winfrey, Sr. of Opelousas, LA and maternal grandmother, Lucille Taylor (John Taylor, Jr.) of Opelousas, LA; one uncle and Godfather, Anthony Winfrey of Opelousas, LA; four aunts, Staice Lazard White of Lafayette, LA, Shawanna Lazard-Lavergne (Reginald), Shanika Rochon and Nicole Lazard, all of Opelousas, LA; Godmother, Melinda Fruge of Opelousas, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his maternal grandparents, Warren Lazard, Sr. and Betty Lazard; paternal great grandparents, Holland Jason and Lucille J. Lavergne; step grandmother, Elise Smith Lazard; paternal great grandparents, Charles Winfrey, Sr. and Anna Belle Kimble Winfrey and an uncle, Warren Lazard, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Spirit of Liberty, 2841 Louisiana Ave., Lafayette, LA. Visitation will resume on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ in Opelousas, LA.
