Sincerely sorry for the loss of a real hero. I served in Iraq with redd and he was always a funny guy to be around, so energetic and full of laughter. He always talked highly of his little girl and how he couldn't wait to come home and see her. I'm sure he spent many memorable days with her since our return from Iraq. I wish the family of redd nothing but the best from here on and iam deeply saddened by this tragedy. Sgt. Hector 81st HBCT Washington State
My deepest condolences Mitchell's family. I am so, so sorry for your loss. I was deeply saddened when I heard of his passing. I served with Redd at Ft. Lewis, and he was in my platoon. My first memory of him is pretty funny. I was a brand new private and I came walking up to formation and there was Redd standing at parade rest telling his squad leader to get out of his personal space. I think after that he proceeded to knock out many push-ups.. Lol.. and any time after that we would joke about how that was my first memory of him, and he would get a good laugh out of that. Aside from that, I remember how big of a heart he had and how caring he was. One day, we both happened to be in the music section at the PX, and he helped me find a specific CD I was looking for. I couldn't remember the name of the song or the artist, only a few lyrics. But he knew exactly what I was looking for. He even went as far as singing the song out loud right there in the aisle, and pretty soon we were both singing it out loud! It was great! Rest In Peace, Redd, and thank you so much for your friendship serving our country! #497th Trans Co #3rdPlatoon -Jeannette Tackett

To the family I want to send my love and condolences. When I first joined the Army in 1999 Mitchell Redd was one of the first people I met @Ft.Lewis, Wa. He was the nicest most kind hearted person I have ever met. He cracked jokes and always talked about his beautiful daughter. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I will miss my friend. Rest in heavenly peace Redd.💖
