Hal was a loving, kind, and compassionate person all his life. These are the character traits he exhibited and taught his children. He was truly a man of God and always displayed "God Like" qualities. I will miss you. Stephanie
My Dear Virginia Girls, I can't fully express the deep sadness I feel for you hearing of the passing of your Dad. I remember all of the wonderful times we had together at Allegheny West Campmeetings and Federations. There was NEVER a single time that I saw your Dad and he was not wearing a big smile! He was a loving and godly man, a caring father that will be greatly missed. He is sleeping now awaiting the Lord's return. Take comfort and be encouraged that God's promises are everlasting and He will sustain you until you are reunited with your Mom and Dad again. I love you, my VA sisters and will be lifting you each up in prayer. With Love and Sympathy, Zina

Words cannot begin to express our heavy hearts. I will always be thankful for the many Sundays Uncle Hal spent driving us to the hospital to see our father - his brother, Dunnie. I am forever grateful. He will be joining a host of loved ones that have passed in the last 15 months and others who have been resting in Heaven for a while. May he RIP. We loved him and still do. He was such a blessing to our lives, even for the short time we knew him. We pray for his family and hope that they know he is sleeping in Jesus until He returns to raise all those who have passed back to life. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17
Elder Carter was the gentlest, kindest person! He was the first person I met at the Martinsville SDA church a couple of years ago and he made me feel very welcome. He never failed to greet me with a genuine smile and kind words, asking after me, each time I attended. Please be comforted by knowing that he touched many lives with the love of Jesus.
To Elder Carter's Family. I'm so sorry to hear about your lost. I will always remember the lessons he taught me about being a young elder in the church. How humble he was, in showing me how to be that way in being an elder. God will continue to bless the family. Elder James Cummings.

Janet, Sandra, Vickie and Sabrina, I can't express how devastating it is for us to loose another immediate family member so close together. Our hearts are filled with human sadness, but rejoicing in Christian happiness knowing that he has been welcomed by Jesus, our Saviour, with open arms. He is now free of pain and the troubles that daily life has to offer us still here on earth. Uncle Hal was a calm and caring man, always ready to give an encouraging word to lift one up in spirit. I am grateful for the times he would call to see how momma was getting along or when he would stop by to see how our dad was doing and especially to always pray for him before he left. How blessed you were to have such a loving dad as he was. He and Aundra will be having some interesting conversations as they continue to watch over and protect us as they have always done through the years. They were both awesome Christian men, who have left a big challenge for us to follow and to carry on where they left off by continuing to care for family and others. I love you cousins and I will miss Uncle Hal very much; his smile, his laugh, his voice and his love. Prayers helps us through all that we suffer and we will continue to pray for you and your family for peace and strength....... Psalm 116:1-2 - I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. ~Colleen & Jesse Hairston~
