With Deepest Sympathy to the Council Family..
I was Mr. Council's TA during my senior year (1976) at LHS. He treated me like his daughter because he knew my parents and my older siblings. He was always giving me advice and words of wisdom and treated me with the upmost respect! I skipped school one day and of course he found out about it! He scolded me and informed me if I did it again he would call my parents so that was never done again. To the entire Council family I'm praying for your strength during this time. May God surround you with His band of angels today and always.
Sorry to see you go may you rest in peace.
My son Sharod was at The Care House from age 6 months to 4 yrs old. At age 4 they were taken to the YMCA for swimming lessons. I was present and nervous that 1st day. Mr. Council, apparently, saw how concerned I was, came to the fence where I was standing and said "I'm watching him, he'll be fine, I've got him". As I looked him in his face, I knew he did. My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Council (Mama Council) and the entire family. May God Bless and Keep You Is My Prayer. Doretha Bell

Mr. Ralph Council was responsible for the beautiful set of wooden oak stained cabinets I had in my office at Hahira Middle School. He cane by one day and asked me if there was anything I needed. I said yes sirβ-I would like some wooden oak stained cabinets at the back wall of my office. He measured and said give me two weeks and they will be installed. He kept his word. I enjoyed them, in my Gym office, for many years. I asked him that when I Retired, could I please take them with me? He said you sure can. When I Retired in 2012 both cabinets were too big for my home. With great pleasure I passed them on to my dear FriendsβDr. Calvin Walker & his wife Sharon who is my best Friend. I know they have and will continue to enjoy them for many years to come. Mr. Council ALWAYS had a smile on his face. I admired him So Much! He had such a Sweet Spirit. βΊοΈ REST IN PEACE Mr. Council. He was a "Man Among Men", and a True Friend to the end. With Love & Respect, Rita Norman π§π»ββοΈππ§π»ββοΈβοΈ

It is with deepest sympathy that I send prayers of comfort and peace to his beautiful Mrs. Council and his amazing daughters, grandchildren, and other family members. I was the first of my siblings to start school as an integrated student. I never had the privilege of being a segregated student. So when I entered high school as a ninth grader, I was shy and a little nervous. I saw this tall black man dressed to impress in the hallway. Looking at him from a distance, I was preparing myself to hear this deep voice. He had a friendly smile that I had a chance to see as I approached him. He stopped me and I thought my heart would stop beating. He asked my name and I told him. He then named my father and my siblings. That eased my anxiety significantly. Before the fist quarter came to an end, his title was Assistant Principal for some; but to us, he was Principal Ralph Councilβ£οΈ He truly was a legend in Valdosta and Lowndes County. Thanks to Mrs. Council and family for sharing him with so many of us!
