At times like these I honestly never know what to say. Words seem futile; however, I hope these offer comfort as we celebrate Jim's long life.
I only recently learned that the cause of Jim's minor limp was due to a severe car accident approximately 40 years ago at which time Jim was actually read his last rights. Clearly Jim wasn't ready to go at that time and he went on to bless his family and friends with many years of laughter, joy, sarcasm, and candor. As a young girl, I recall Jim and the other adults sitting around "shooting the breeze" outside grandma Minnie's house when we went 'down south' to Alabama for family visits. Jim always had something to say. Half the time he was fussing with his first wife Oscar Mae. That's love for you. We all desperately try to find it, then hold onto it but it occasionally fades. Thank God for second chances. Jim realized his second chance with Marjorie.
Shortly after their union, Jim and Marjorie began blessing our family reunions with their memorable skits (especially when they impersonated Ike & Tina Turner). I grew ever so fond of their playfulness and youthful joy. I'm certain that Marjorie lead the charge on their creative endeavors and I'm glad Jim willingly followed.
Laughter in relationships is so important. Thank you Jim Watson for sticking around for 78 years and thank you Marjorie for tolerating him.😁 You have both blessed the family with countless memorable moments and we will always cherish your union. To all Jim's children, step children, grandchildren, siblings, family and friends near and far, I pray that God continues to wrap each and every one of you in the comfort of His loving arms during this difficult time. Celebrate a life well lived.
Love Always, Kimberly Maultsby (Niece)
"Each one of us will someday walk that final path, it's true. And now someone you dearly love has walked this pathway, too. May you find comfort in God's words, "You shall not walk alone," And may you trust in God above Until He, too, calls you home."
My sincere condolences to you and family. Prayers for peace, strength and confort..Blessings, Karen L. Williams
