Funeral service for LaTanya Chislom, 52, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2025, at St. Mark A.M.E Church, 4141 Anderson Road, Opelika, AL, 36801 with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Jonathan Benton will officiate.
Mrs. Chislom, who passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, was born January 2, 1973 in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Chislom will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: husband, Anthony Chislom of Opelika, AL; one daughter, Skyler Watts of Opelika, AL; one son, Rashaad Chislom of Opelika, AL; mother, Doris Watts Butler of Opelika, AL; one sister, Natosha (Goodman) Rivers of Opelika, AL; one brother, Jerry (Janease) Butler of Opelika, AL; grandmother, Emma Hughley of Opelika, AL; four sisters-in-law, Quinette (David) George of Loachapoka, AL, Angela Chislom of Camp Hill, AL, Essie Trimble of Opelika, AL and Nellie Chislom of Petersburg, VA; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Mary) Chislom of Jackson Gap, AL and Jerome Chislom of Waverly, AL; four aunts, Janice (Milton) Whatley of Opelika, AL, Lisa (Ramon) Brownlee of LaGrange, GA, Judy (Melvin) Baker and Yolanda Minegar both of Opelika, AL; three uncles, Howard Watts, Jr. of Opelika, AL, Larry (Michelle) Watts of Renton, WA and Bobby (Charlotte) Butler of Huntsville, AL; two nephews, Malik Butler and Ahmad Butler both of Opelika, AL; three nieces, Jazmine Butler, Jamya Butler and Joy Butler all of Opelika, AL; one great-nephew, Kashton Malik Butler of Opelika, AL; one great-niece, Kyla Milan Butler of Opelika, AL; one great uncle, John Edwards of Opelika, AL; devoted best friend, Briggett Summers of Opelika, AL; biological father, Herman O’Neal of Syracuse, NY; siblings, Brandy and Lawanda; aunt, Angela O’Neal of Opelika, AL; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
