I wasn't sure if I wanted to express how I felt or if I could find the right words, but someone close to me encouraged me to speak from the heart.

Dayquan, I want to express my gratitude for knowing you for 23 years. Your presence has always radiated a bright light that lights up any room you walk into. This is a rare quality that not many possess, even as children. I remember when we were young, I used to see you drawing in your room every day. I asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up, and you proudly declared that you wanted to be a tattoo artist. I never questioned your dream because you were quiet, and that was a very rare moment for you. I have never seen you without a smile on your face, and you always showed love to anyone you met. You were and still are the life of the party. I will always cherish memories of you cracking jokes or arguing over who would get to sit in the front seat. I recall you once saying, "Mama, I'm the only boy in this car. Why do I have to sit between the girls in the back?" You somehow managed to find your way to the front seat, laughing all the while. I want to express my gratitude for being my friend. You are loved and missed by many.
