Sgt. Dennis Alan Lum II
Dennis passed away on February 19, 2020. Born July 17, 1983 in Sanford, NC.
He attended ROTC at Riverside High School and entered the Marine Corp. upon graduation in 2002. During his 12 years in the the Marine Corp. he deployed to the Philippines once. He served two deployments in Iraq and three deployments in Afghanistan. Dennis was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps in 2014.
He is survived by one son Dennis A. Lum III, of the home in Durham, NC., two daughters, Deanna Leanora Lum of Virginia and Malia Lum of Kernersville, NC; he is also survived by his mother, Martha L. Sandlin of the home in Durham, NC; brother Nick Campbell and his fiancee, Lisa Lambert of Bahama, NC, brother, William Lum of the home in Durham, NC.; sister, Sheri L. Kukal and husband Jason Kukal of Monroe, Louisana, sister, Kimberly L. Norris and husband Clyde Norris of Greenville, SC.; Mr. Lum's fiancee Sarah Lynn Willard of Durham, NC, Jesse Copley of the home, Durham, NC, brother Christopher Cash of SC. He was predeceased by his father, Cpt. Dennis A. Lum I of the Army, grandfather Mr. William (Bill) Epps and grandmother Mrs. Mary Tinsley Epps of Greenville, SC. and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lum of Hawaii.
The family will be at the home, 3209 Sprunt St., Durham, NC. Services will be at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home, Durham,NC on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 5:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, any donations would be greatly appreciated to the minor children, and can be set to P.O. Box 3247, Durham, NC 27515-3247 or contributions to Wounded Warriors or any PTSD organization for military veterans.
